Severe Flooding in our Oklahoma Garden

We have had a LOT of rain over the past month. I have had to restart my garden 4 different times this year because I keep losing so many plants. Here are some short clips from last night’s storm. These were filmed only 20 minutes after the rain began. Flash flood warnings everywhere.

In other news, I know we have so many friends in California dealing with severe drought conditions. I so wish we could get our nation working together to pump all of this water to everyone out west that desperately needs it.

I should also mention, the collapsed green rain barrel you see on the ground…I had picked these out because they were the most affordable option as far as rain barrels go. This particular barrel busted its top seams after one month of use. I was able to use giant safety pins to reattach the lid. I have set the barrel back up at least 3 more times, only to have it collapse again after the next rainfall. I’m not sure if that’s a testament to the rain barrel itself or if it’s just because we have had an ENORMOUS amount of rainfall. Either way, I’m pretty sure if I had gone with a sturdier, plastic barrel, it probably wouldn’t have collapsed like this.
